Why is my transmission slipping?
Slipping is typically caused by low transmission fluid, worn clutch friction bands, or a failing solenoid that can't maintain the hydraulic pressure needed to hold the gear.
What does a transmission warning light mean?
It indicates the Transmission Control Module has detected an electrical fault, a severe temperature spike, or an incorrect gear ratio, and needs scanning to prevent further mechanical damage.
Can low fluid damage the gearbox?
Yes. Transmission fluid acts as both the hydraulic pressure medium and the lubricant. Running low causes extreme internal heat that rapidly wears down clutches, bands, and bearings.
How often should a DSG or PDK transmission be serviced?
High-performance dual-clutch transmissions typically need fluid and filter changes every 30,000 to 40,000 miles to maintain shift speed and protect the Mechatronic unit.
What's the difference between a fluid change and a flush?
A fluid change drops the pan, replaces the filter, and refills what drained out. A flush machine-pushes out all old fluid at once, which can dislodge debris in older transmissions — we generally recommend the pan-drop method instead.
Why does my car jerk when I put it in Drive?
A harsh clunk out of Park is often a failing transmission mount, low fluid, or a shift solenoid engaging the gear too aggressively.
Is it safe to drive with a red fluid leak?
No. A red puddle under the vehicle means the transmission is losing its hydraulic lifeblood. Continuing to drive quickly starves the pump and can lead to complete gearbox failure.
